A port is awesome, makes things easier for giving things and taking the blood test before each treatment.. and I guess if you need shots if your blood count are off, like procret or neupogen.. but I didn’t have a port, I have no idea why it wasn’t offered..
I did not have one either but I only had 4 treatments… All blood work and chemo were administered in opposite arm to mastectomy. Of course, now, 13 years later, it can be really difficult for some nurses to find a good vein in that arm.
yeah.. after 8 chemo and all the blood draws those veins are kinda shy now..lol
